Principal's Note
Dear Ordway Friends,

At the beginning of each week, Ordway provides this newsletter to our staff and families with helpful information for the week ahead. This year we are expanding our Monday Newsletters to include our counselor, librarian, and specialists on a rotating basis. By broadening the scope of our communication, I hope you will enjoy receiving more information about all of our programs at Ordway.

IMPORTANT - Back to School Night

Ordway’s Back to School Night (BTSN) ‘Official’ schedule below
Tuesday, September 17 (Start in gymnasium for BRIEF overview/PTO information)

Regular Classrooms
5:15 - 2nd & 3rd grades
6:30 - K*, 1st, and 4th grades

El Velero Classrooms same as above except 3rd and 4th as follows:
5:15 - El Velero 3rd & 4th grade families to the gym
5:30 - EV 3rd grade to Maestra Strayer, 4th grade to Maestra Adriana
6:30 - EV 4th grade to Maestra Strayer, 3rd grade to Maestra Adriana

*So much effort goes into ensuring the elementary schools are all similar but sometimes there are reasons to be dissimilar. Ordway held one day of WAKids, per usual, for each child/parent with the teacher and BTSN as usual. Another school piloted two-days with each child/parent with ‘meet the principal’ incorporated, etc. Per usual, Ordway kindergarten parents will attend our BTSN.

I especially wish to extend a warm welcome to all of our new families - brand new Ordway Otters! Please do not hesitate to let your child’s teacher or me know if you have any questions or need - we are all here to support your transition to your new school! Same for everyone - please do not be alone with a question or concern.

Finally, sincere gratitude to my entire staff who worked collaboratively to help make every child’s transition back to school as smooth as possible!

Best,
Debra

This newsletter has great tips for all families as they head back to school - the snack ideas alone make it worth a look!

Our preschools aim to provide a nurturing, culturally responsive environment for every student.
